It is cold outside. This a perfect season to eat Hot Pot!
Been Chinese, most people like to eat hot pot. There are basically two kinds of hot pot:
Southern Sichuan style hot pot or Northern style hot pot. Sichuan style hot pot, the broth are spicy, people enjoyed the hot,tough burning sauce. Northern style hot pot, the broth is most clear. People enjoy lamb meat the most.
My kids can’t eat spicy. So we nowadays mostly make northern style hot pot.
Broth: canned chicken broth or fresh made.
Dipping Sauce: 1 Chinese barbeque sauce + 4 peanut butter + some soy sauce
Most popular foods in the pot:
meat: lamb (they are in the freezer of Asian Market)
seafood: fresh shrimp, fresh fish(slice it)
meat balls ,fish balls, or small dumpling for hot pot (also in the freezer section)
bean curd, mushrooms
Cellophane noodles(Fen si)
sticky rice slices(nian Gao)
Vegetables: Chinese Cabbage,spinach,…)
